AAA Uganda at the Jinja Agricultural Trade Fair Show 17th-23rd July, 2017

The National Agricultural and Trade Fair Show in Jinja, is a leading exhibition ground in Uganda. It combines Agriculture and Trade sectors which sets a platform for displaying and identifying innovations. These innovations are made by local and foreign companies through improved technologies for better production, marketing and poverty eradication.

This year the trade fair focus was on climate smart agriculture under the theme, “MANAGING THE CHALLENGES OF CLIMATE CHANGE FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE,” with a view to enhance sustainable national food security and farm incomes.

The trade fair attracted many sorts of exhibitors like Best Agro Technology & Innovations Stand, Education Institutions and heavy machinery companies. Financial Institutions like Banks, SACCOs, Insurance, MFIs, and NSSF were also present. Alongside these organizations, there were also Seed companies, Feeds Companies, Government Ministries, among others.

AAA members, under honey, poultry, herbs, coffee, agri-inputs and dairy, exhibited their products under the AAA tent. Members benefited from exposure to current technologies of production in the agricultural value chain. They acquired market for their products by making direct sales, creating new business deals amongst themselves and exchanging contacts with potential buyers and development partners.

Some members did not sale to their expectations as there were few potential buyers while to others it was profitable. Delta Bees (U) Ltd, member of AAA, made a business deal of supplying Aloesha Organics with beeswax for Jelly making worth two million shillings. Delivery was to be made after the trade fair. Real Agricultural Solutions, another AAA member, got partners to distribute their products in Jinja. They received packaging advice from buyers and their sales were satisfactory. Networking and knowledge sharing were greatly embraced by all the members.

AAA visibility was increased through a collaboration between Uganda Agribusiness Alliance and AAA.The Director Mr. Karama Farid addressed the youths during the Youth Agribusiness Forum held on the 22nd July 2017. Mr Karama Farid unveiled the opportunities in Agribusiness where he offered to provide mentorship to the youth who are interested in agribusiness.
